This little cake I made for my cousin to the birth of their first daughter! It's with sponge cake, filled with Butter cream, wrapped in a Fondant. The flower decorations are also modeled from Fondant. The colours of the flowers are mixed with food coloring.

Small cake with Fondant

Recipe for the sponge cake

4               white of eggs
4               egg yolk
150 g        sugar
4 TS        water
80 g         flour
80 g         cornflour
1 TS        baking powder
1               vanilla

First beat white eggs in a large mixing bowl till they become stiff. While you are beating the eggs add the sugar. In a separate bowl mix egg yolk and water on low speed until just combined, then carefully combine the white egg with the egg yolk. Mix Corn flour, flour, vanilla and baking powder and sieving. Combine it to the egg mixture and fold in carefully but do not stir it too long. Bake in preheated oven (180° C) for 30-40 minutes.

Recipe for Butter cream

200 g          Chocolate
100 ml        cream
250 g           Butter
50 g             Icing sugar

While the chocolate melts, mix butter, cream and icing sugar. Add the melted chocolate. Share the butter cream on so that it is sufficient for the filling of the cake and also for wrapping. Butter cream is the main component that keeps the Fondant.

Afterwards, the cake is first placed in the refrigerator so that the butter cream fixed. When this happens, the fondant is carefully rolled and placed on the cake. With a cookie cutter, you can cut out the flowers and place them on the cake. The fondant is cut into small strokes to decorate the cake with brown branches. The decoration of the flowerd and branches is fixed with a sugar glue, which you can make by your own with 1 cup icing sugar and 9 teaspoon water. You can vary the sponge cake. If you want to you can add ground nuts or cocoa powder.
Have fun I hope you like it!!
